This is a great but tough column to digest if you are a true red white and blue American. You make us through the SOTU look in the mirror. Ultimately it is our fault for whom we put in power (both D and R) and our responsibility to try and fix what is wrong. It is the politicians the media the....that we have allowed to drive the wedge and divide. Until such time we stand up collectively and shout "I am mad as hell and I am not going to take this anymore." And actually do something like hold their feet to the fire.or kick them to the curb.

Well, if you watched the whole thing (and read the actual speech twice), then you're a far better man than me Matt. I gave up on the SOTU years ago. Jefferson sent the SOTU to Congress as a letter, until that Dean Wormer in a top hat, Woodrow Wilson, brought it back as a speech.

I'll vote for any candidate who promises to go back to Jefferson's ways, no matter the party. Sounds like something Vermin Supreme would do.
